Victoria Day Weekend 2013

It was the Victoria Day long weekend and we had some nice weather on one of the days.  I set Camden up in the driveway with his trucks, shovels and some water.  I helped him to build the pools of water (he wasn't very interested) but he eventually made a mud pie for Ron.

Of course Camden's day would not be complete without

playtime on the lawn mower!

I didn't even know they made these, but Ron found a chainsaw made just for kids.  Camden has "chopped" down most of the trees in our yard now...haha

Mother's Day - For Grammie

Last weekend Camden and I crafted up some goodies to give to Grammie for Mother's Day. 

Months ago I made a fingerprint charm for myself and for Grammie.  I didn't take a picture of it though :(  I braided some embroidery floss to loop through the charm so Grammie can wear it as a necklace or she can use it as a keychain.

Camden painted a box for Grammie and I added some ribbon to it.  I think he did an amazing job at using all the paint colours.  The mess....well, it was easy to clean up and we had fun, so who cares?

I also printed a card that Grammie can frame if she chooses to.

I never have the right words to use when trying to express myself.  I always feel I fall short but I would like to try. 

I remember days of baking bread, hot lunches, special round bread sandwiches, backyard camping and belly laughs.  I remember being held during illnesses, hugged when sad and hurt.  I remember softness and tired hands.  I remember sadness and tears and worry.  I remember scoldings not given for my stupidity, ears open to listen.  I remember button jars, knitting needles and crochet hooks.  I remember hat shops, yarn and sewing machines.  I remember hard work, volunteerism and dedication.  I remember you Mum and I love you more than I could ever say.  Thank you for who you are, what you have taught me, thank you for everything I remember.

If I can give Camden half the wonderful memories that I have of you, then I have done a good job as his Mum-Mum.

Happy Mother's Day to the best Mum a girl could ever want.  Happy Mother's Day to Camden's Grammie!  We all love you very much!

I shouldn't be surprised he thinks a fox sneezes.  One of the characters in his favourite movie, The Gruffalo, is a fox with allergies.

It was just a funny moment as I didn't except him to say that.  (What does a fox say anyway?)

Ouch!

On Sunday Camden was sitting in my lap and wanted to get down to grab a toy.  He took one step, tripped on the carpet under the chair and fell onto the railing we have around the TV.

I grabbed him and yelled for Ron who came flying down the stairs, either from my yell or Camden's screaming.  He grabbed Cam and was able to calm him down.

We sat him in his highchair and gave him a lollipop and he was as happy as could be.  That is when we noticed all the blood...

Ron was able to trim the hair from around the cut and clean the wound.  Camden hit the railing really hard as the wood broke and there was a splinter in his head.  It didn't seem deep enough to warrent stitches and the bleeding stopped fairly quickly.

We bandaged him up, gave him some pain reliver and he was just fine.  It will take me a few days to get over it though.

Here is the dowel that broke when he fell.  I think he hit that corner too.

The voice of wisdom (aka, My Mum) tells me this is the first of many bumps, bruises and cuts for Camden while he grows from a little boy into a big boy.  Thanks Mum for helping me feel less guilty.

Some random chatter from Camden lately.

• Last week while trying to get Camden to sleep he grabbed my face and gave me a big kiss.

                     Cam: Niiiice kiss Mum-Mum, Wuv ewe
     
My first "I love you" from my boy.....LOVE!

• Last night after supper we were playing outside and for some reason Camden gave me a kiss and then said, "All better now Mommy".  Then he had me carry him to Ron and he kissed Ron and said, "All better now Daddy".

• Also last night, we were playing with the lawnmower.  I pulled it up the side hill and Cam stood behind it and ran with it down the hill.  I was standing at the bottom and he yelled out, "Watch out Mum-Mum".

• For some reason every night when I get home from work Camden asks me if I bought "groceries".  I think he is looking for a treat :)
