Christmas 2012

Merry Christmas from our little family to yours.  We lost our tree and couldn't find it until Christmas Eve.  I thought it was in the shed, Ron thought it was in the closet.  After hunting around for a few days we found it underneath the spare room bed.

I put it up on Christmas Eve after Camden went to sleep.  Poor little Charlie Brown tree....

On Christmas morning I told Camden I had a surprise downstairs for him, then I ran down and plugged in the lights.  When I carried him down the steps he kept saying, "Ooooh, lights.".  He was enthralled with the decorations and spent some time looking at and touching them.

After breakfast Camden seemed interested in opening up his presents.  I think next year there will be no waiting!

This gift is from Auntie Cathy - 200 foam blocks, which he promptly dumped out upon opening!

This was from Grammie, another 100 blocks, which he also dumped out.  Ever see 300 blocks on the floor?

Ripping into puzzles from Grammie - they ended up all over the floor too.

This was a package from our good friend Donna.  Camden thought the tissue paper was for blowing his nose, so he went ahead and blew!

Thank you for the cozy blanket Donna.

Niblet was getting some play time in with tissue paper and Duncan was resting in the sun.  Froot Loop was her usual antisocial self and didn't visit this Christmas.

After the fun of opening presents Camden read a book and had a snack.

Here is a little video of the paper ripping fun he had.

Words

We have had a word explosion in the last few weeks.  Camden is saying more and more and using words in the correct context as well.

The last few days we have heard, Yes, Help, More, Snow, Mayonnaise,  and No!

These are on top of the words he already uses on a daily basis.  Words like hands, soap, Mommy, Daddy, Duncan, wash, paste, banana.  The list goes on.

When you say, "Knock knock, who's there"? Camden says, "Mary".  This comes from one of his favourite books.  The first time he said Mary, I nearly fell down laughing.

Here is a video I took on Monday night.  Camden asked us to hang "light" and Ron hooked them up over the chairs.  We heard lots of Ohh's and Amazing :)

We are really, really enjoying this rapid development but I am finding it hard to keep up and remember what is happening.  It is all moving so quickly.  Slow down Cam....just a little please!

Dear Camden....

Dear Camden,

This is the first letter I have written to you but I wanted to tell you how special you are to me.  Last night as you were falling asleep next to me, I watched you breathe.  I felt your heart beating and saw your little chest rise gently up and down.

You are hardly ever still anymore, running and playing, jumping and talking.  It was a pleasure to just watch you as you lay quiet.  Your hair curled around your ear, your cheeks rosy and plump, your little hand curled around my finger.  So soft, so small, so wonderful.

As I watched you, I started to cry.  Sometimes I still cannot believe I get to be your Mommy.  How did I ever get so lucky?  You are beautiful and amazing.  There are so many things that Daddy and I have to teach you and so many experiences just waiting for you.

It is going to be awesome and I can't wait!  We are going to have so much fun together!

I love you so much little man, thank you for coming to us.

Love Mum-Mum.

Hammer Time

One of Camden's favourite toys is his little red hammer.  This particular Sunday he had the chance to grab Da-Da's hammer and help fix everything in the back porch.

Hello

Camden is saying Hello and Goodbye and has been playing a lot with his little phone.  He also holds other toys to his ear and says Hello as well, he doesn't care if it is a car, shoe or ball....all telephones to him.

Halloween 2012

We were worried Halloween would be rained out this year as Hurricane Sandy was predicted to head our way with high winds and rains.  It did rain heavily for the early part of the day, but cleared just in time for Trick or Treating.

We were the Three Bears and I am pleased to say my first attempt at sewing clothing was a success.  I think we looked terrific!  Camden's costume was made from a blanket I bought for $1.99 and our costumes were made from an old white sheet set that I attempted to dye brown.  My Mum (aka Grammie), knitted our  hats.

Kids are so literal

I often think that because Camden cannot talk to me, he doesn't understand what I am saying.  Two recent incidents have proven me very wrong.

We were taking pictures in the backyard and Camden kept looking at the tree, with his back to me.  I asked him to turn around so I could take his picture and he proceeded to turn in circles.

I snapped some pictures of this:

Last night while we were practicing to say "Trick or Treat" for Halloween I thought I would teach him the little Trick or Treat song.  I got as far as "Trick or treat, smell my feet".... when he hopped down off the chair, leaned over and sniffed my feet!

He definately understands what I am saying and takes it very literally.  So funny!

Autumn 2012 Photoshoot

Camden got dressed up yesterday for an Autumn photoshoot in the backyard.  He wasn't too impressed at first and kept his back to me most of the time.  I would ask him to turn around and he would turn in circles.

It's great fun taking pictures of a toddler these days :)

Here are the best shots of the day.

(He tackled me to the ground, again...)

He was hiding behind the tree....I love this one!

Daddy Said What? #2

We were outside and a helicopter flew by.  Camden pointed up and Daddy said, "It's a helicopter Cam, just like a plane only different.  A helicopter goes up and down and a plane goes back and forth".

Spinning

If you were anything like me growing up, you liked to spin around trees and lamp posts.  Looks like Camden likes to spin too.

Colours

We praticed our colours on the weekend.  I think in no time he will be saying them clearly!

Smart boy!

I took this video last night while Camden was enjoying his half birthday cake.

In it, he shows off some of his newly learned words (bad bug, up, done), gestures (squash the bug, rubbing tummy, waving bye bye) and bad habits (throwing food on floor).

Enjoy!

Half Birthday - Cake, candles and bad Singing

Camden's half birthday was on October 4, 2012 but we only had the chance to make his little half cake last night.

He was tired after a long day, but enjoyed eating the cake and blowing out the candles over and over.

Sorry for the horrible singing ........
