Happy Half Birthday - 1 1/2

Happy Half Birthday to you,
Happy Half Birthday to you,
Happy Half Birthday dear Camden,
Happy Half Birthday to you!

Camden is one and a half years old today!  I cannot believe how much we all have grown the past 18 months.  Ron and I as parents and Cam as a toddler.

Camden, right now you are doing the following:

  • You can say Duncan, but it comes out in two words - Dunnn-Can
  • You now have 12 teeth, all four on top, all four on bottom, and four molars
  • You try to put your socks and shoes on by yourself
  • You can say, Bad Cat, Bad Dog, Bad Bug
  • The phase of biting, hitting and throwing toys has begun
  • Daddy says "Sweet" and you say "Dude"
  • You like to clap your hands and stomp your feet when Mum-Mum sings to you
  • Still not sleeping through the night, but you are going in longer stretches and sometimes can put yourself back to sleep when you wake up
  • We are still nursing and you ask for milky as soon as I come home from work
  • Sometimes you like to colour in your book and not eat your crayons, mostly you want to eat your crayons
  • You lead us around by holding onto our finger
  • You got your first library card and signed out three books
  • You splash in mud puddles now
  • When the stool is out you like to climb up and down, up and down
  • You are playing hide and seek with Mum-Mum now.  You hide by standing somewhere and staying very still.  Against the wall of behind the chair
  • You say "Uh-Oh" and "Up" all the time.

Daddy Said What? #1

While getting Camden ready for bed last night, Daddy said, "Other kids have blankets.  Our kid takes a packet of ketchup to bed".

An Autumn Weekend

We had another wonderful weekend.

On Saturday, we went to the 99th Annual Albert County Exhibition in Riverside Albert, NB.  We walked around and looked at all the animals on display, watched some gymnists perform and saw some horses running around the ring.

Camden tried to kiss the goats, a horse and one of the cows.  He was trying to get the horses attention as they raced in the ring by making kissy kissy sounds.  Everyone sitting nearby turned to see who it was.

I think the highlight of the fair for Camden had to be the giant tractors.  He sat on this one for a solid thirty minutes!

Sunday morning was a crisp 9 degrees but sunny and perfect for a first time apple picking adventure in the backyard.

Apple picking quickly turned to apple eating and apple inspecting!

After we were done picking our apples, we just played around in the yard for a bit.

Peek A Boo!

This is how a bear walks Mum-Mum....

Now I am looking forward to piles of raked leaves and giggly laughter when we jump in them.  I hope everyone takes the time to enjoy the season.

Long Weekend Fun

We had lovely weather for the last long weekend of the summer.  We enjoyed some great company (Fabian, visiting from Toronto) and spent some time with the neighbours.

Camden had fun on our lawnmower as well as the mower of our neighbour, Leon.  Such a boy!

Poor little guy was really tired in this photo.  Don't you just love his shirt?  I went around calling him Captain Awesome all weekend!

Camden saw this little white flower under the steps and picked it for me....or so I thought.

What he really wanted to do was tear the petals off and throw them on the ground.

In the next two photos Camden is playing with our neighbour, Maria.  She is two years and a couple of months older than Camden, but they seem to get along great.

This was the best part of the day for me.  Camden walked towards Maria with his arms out and put them around her and puckered up for a kiss.  My heart just about melted.

This Little Piggy

A special moment shared with Grammie on her vist in July.  I didn't realize I had this video until today.

Enjoy!

Picture Taking with a Toddler

I find it has become increasingly difficult to snap nice pictures of Camden.  I am mostly getting blurry hands, arms and a cropped off head.

He is so cute and I don't want to miss sharing his funny and special moments with his Grammie and our friends, but he needs to stay still a little bit.

Here are some recent snaps of a cute moment after Ron put bubbles on his head.

See?  Blurry hands and arms.

It gets worse. He likes to tackle the photographer (me) and knock me to the ground.

In the end, I did manage to get a clear shot of the bubbles on the top of his head but wish it included the rest of him :)

Fun with Flour

While Ron was sleeping in yesterday Camden and I made a mess.  Messes will always happen when Ron is sleeping or away, he hates mess.

We love it though!

I gave Cam some flour and watched what he did with it.

He poked it.

He moved it around with his fingers.

He let it run through his fingers like sand

When I added water, he pushed everything together with a spoon

and then tried to eat the sticky paste...yuck!

I added some more flour and we made a dough

Camden enjoyed mushing it and tearing it (and throwing it on the floor)

I think our morning of play was successful and took up an hour or more after breakfast.  When we were done, all washed up and dressed in clean clothes (both of us), it was time for a nap (for both of us).
