Our little helper

Camden is an amazing little helper.

He helps Daddy with the raking outside.

He stands in the laundry hamper to get the wash started.

He helps Mommy take a bath too....

Camden loves to vaccum

He even is helping out with breakfast....

Party!

We were not planning a party for Camden this year, but I made too much cake that was begging to be shared.  Here are the details of his first birthday party.

Camden has a fondness for giraffes and I used his blue giraffe as a model for his cake topper.  This being the first fondant figure I ever made, I think it turned out great!

 

I was going for an ombre look to the cakes but as I started decorating I realized two things.  One, I am out of practice with cake decorating.  Two, I have no energy or time to spend decorating a cake all day.  So, I improvised and in the end, was semi-happy with the results.

It was all planned at the last minute really and we are so happy that Monika, Daniel and baby Luke could make it.  Dave and Sue joined us as well.  Poor Auntie Cathy, who really wanted to be with us, was not feeling well and had to stay away.

Camden skipped his morning nap and we were not sure he would be awake to smash his cake, but he persevered and made it through (looking very tired though).

Here are the cake pictures....he wasn't sure what to make of the smash cake and needed a little help digging in.  Once he had a taste of icing, there was no stopping him though. 

And this was all that was left when Cam was done with the cake....

Present time....still not into ripping wrapping paper.  A firestation from Dave and Sue and the classic pull along telephone from Monika and Daniel.  Thank you all so much!

Though unplanned, it turned into a really nice day for my Birthday Boy!  Yay!

Happy 1st Birthday Camden

Happy Birthday to our little man!  This has been the most incredible year for us and we wanted to look back and remember all the changes.

A real boy

Camden was given a little leather recliner from our friends, Keitha and Scott.  He is just about big enough to sit in it and get out of it safely now.

He is always after the remote, so we sat him in the chair and handed it to him.  He immediately turned it towards the TV and started pushing buttons.  Amazing what children pick up from watching adults.

Up, up and away

He may not be able to walk yet but Camden sure knows his way around a staircase!  He surprised me about a month ago when he followed me up the stairs.  I turned the corner and there he was, half way up.  

Now that we know he likes to go up, we walk behind him to make sure he is ok.  Daddy is teaching him how to get down, but I think that will take a while longer yet.
